Ring Size Reference

Ring sizes are commonly determined using the inside diameter or circumference of a ring. The table below provides approximate US ring size measurements.

Please compare these measurements with the sizing options displayed on the product page. Not every Amberfield ring is necessarily available in every size.

US Size Inside Diameter Inside Circumference
4 14.9 mm 46.8 mm
4.5 15.3 mm 48.0 mm
5 15.7 mm 49.3 mm
5.5 16.1 mm 50.6 mm
6 16.5 mm 51.9 mm
6.5 16.9 mm 53.1 mm
7 17.3 mm 54.4 mm
7.5 17.7 mm 55.7 mm
8 18.1 mm 57.0 mm
8.5 18.5 mm 58.3 mm
9 18.9 mm 59.5 mm
9.5 19.4 mm 60.8 mm
10 19.8 mm 62.1 mm
10.5 20.2 mm 63.4 mm
11 20.6 mm 64.6 mm
11.5 21.0 mm 65.9 mm
12 21.4 mm 67.2 mm

Measurements are approximate. Ring-sizing standards and rounding conventions can vary slightly between manufacturers and guides.

Helpful distinction: The inside diameter is the straight-line distance across the inside of a ring. The inside circumference is the distance around the inside edge of the band.

How to Measure Ring Size

There are two practical ways to estimate your ring size at home: measuring an existing well-fitting ring or measuring around your finger.

A

Measure an Existing Ring

  1. Choose a ring that comfortably fits the intended finger.
  2. Place it flat on a stable surface.
  3. Use a ruler or caliper to measure the inside diameter, not the outer edge.
  4. Record the result in millimeters.
  5. Compare your measurement with the US size chart above.
B

Measure Your Finger

  1. Use a flexible measuring tape or a thin, nonstretch strip of paper.
  2. Wrap it around the base of your finger without pulling tightly.
  3. Mark the point where the ends meet.
  4. Lay the strip flat and measure its length in millimeters.
  5. Compare the result with the circumference column in the chart.

Understanding Your Measurement

For example, an inside ring diameter of approximately 17.3 mm corresponds to US size 7. A finger circumference of approximately 54.4 mm is also close to US size 7.

These are reference values rather than guarantees of fit. Your knuckle size, finger shape, band width, and design can affect comfort.

When Should You Measure?

We recommend measuring near the end of the day when your hands are at a comfortable, normal temperature.

Avoid measuring immediately after intense exercise or when your fingers feel unusually cold or swollen.

For additional accuracy, repeat your measurement several times and use a professional ring sizer if one is available.

Important: A strip of paper or string can stretch, compress, or sit unevenly. For a valuable or especially important purchase, measuring with a professional ring sizing tool is preferable.

03.

Choosing a Comfortable Ring Fit

A Comfortable Fit

Your ring should sit securely on your finger and pass over the knuckle with gentle resistance.

Between Two Sizes

Consider your knuckle, band width, and comfort preference. If uncertain, seek a professional fitting before ordering.

Different Fingers

Ring sizes can vary between fingers and even between the left and right hands. Measure the exact finger you'll use.

Wide Bands vs. Slim Bands

Wider ring bands can feel tighter than narrow bands of the same nominal size because they cover more of the finger. Design and comfort should be considered when choosing a size.

Decorative & Statement Rings

Some gemstone, floral, heart-shaped, and celestial-inspired designs may have larger decorative tops or asymmetrical silhouettes. Their weight distribution can affect how they feel when worn.

Always check the individual product description before choosing a size. Do not attempt to bend a fixed-size ring to adjust its fit.

Necklace Length Guide

Necklace length affects where a pendant sits and how it complements your neckline, outfit, and personal style.

The following lengths are common jewelry references. They do not indicate that every Amberfield necklace is offered in these sizes.

14 in Approximately 35.6 cm. Short choker-style placement on many wearers.
16 in Approximately 40.6 cm. Often sits near the base of the neck.
18 in Approximately 45.7 cm. A common pendant necklace length.
20 in Approximately 50.8 cm. Usually falls somewhat below the collarbone.
22 in Approximately 55.9 cm. Offers a longer relaxed necklace look.
24 in Approximately 61.0 cm. Commonly worn as a longer statement or layered chain.

How to Measure Necklace Length

  1. Take a soft measuring tape, string, or flexible ribbon.
  2. Place it around your neck to visualize the intended necklace length.
  3. Adjust the loop to the position where you'd like the necklace to sit.
  4. Measure the full loop length in centimeters or inches.
  5. Compare the length with the specific necklace listing.

Consider the Pendant

A long crescent moon, teardrop crystal, floral pendant, or multi-charm design may hang lower than the chain alone suggests.

Pendant height and chain length are separate measurements. Check whether the product description specifies an extension chain or adjustable length.

Body Proportions Matter

The same necklace can sit differently depending on neck circumference, height, shoulder shape, and clothing neckline.

If you have a favorite necklace, measuring its full chain length can be a useful starting point.

Earring Size & Length Guide

Earring dimensions influence the overall appearance and comfort of a style. Small studs, drop earrings, and long floral statement pieces create very different visual effects.

General Earring Length Categories

Style Reference Approximate Length Typical Look
Small Studs Under 10 mm Subtle and minimal
Short Drops 10–25 mm Delicate and versatile
Medium Drops 25–45 mm Noticeable but balanced
Long Drops 45–65 mm Elegant and expressive
Extra-Long Statement Over 65 mm Dramatic occasion styling

These categories are general styling references, not fixed industry standards or confirmed product dimensions.

How to Measure Earrings

For drop earrings, overall length is generally measured from the uppermost wearing point to the lowest decorative element. Width is measured at the widest part of the design.

For hoops, check whether the listing specifies the inner diameter, outer diameter, or total drop.

Consider Weight & Movement

Statement earrings with flowers, crystal clusters, pearls, or multiple dangling components may feel different from minimalist studs of a similar length.

If you prefer lightweight accessories, please check whether item weight is available in the product specifications.

Jewelry Sizing Tips

Measure More Than Once

Repeated measurements can help identify mistakes caused by uneven placement or measuring tools.

Check Product Details

Always confirm the actual specifications shown for the selected jewelry design before checkout.

Consider Your Comfort

Style, size, weight, chain length, and how often you plan to wear a piece can influence your choice.

Buying Jewelry as a Gift

If you're purchasing a ring for someone else, measuring one of their existing well-fitting rings can help you estimate a size.

Be sure the reference ring is worn on the same finger and hand whenever possible.

For necklaces, compare the chain length with an existing piece the recipient enjoys wearing.

For earrings, consider the recipient's usual preference for studs, shorter drops, or longer statement designs.

Important: All measurements in this guide are informational. The measurements, size availability, and adjustability of an individual Amberfield product are determined by its product listing.

Frequently Asked Sizing Questions

What if I'm between two ring sizes?

Consider your finger shape, knuckle measurement, band width, and preferred fit. A professional ring sizing appointment can help resolve uncertainty.

Are all rings adjustable?

No. Ring adjustability varies by design. Unless a product specifically says it is adjustable, do not assume the band can be resized.

Do fingers change size?

Yes. Finger measurements may change with temperature, activity, normal swelling, and other individual factors.

Is necklace length the same as pendant length?

Not necessarily. Chain length describes the necklace chain. A pendant may add extra vertical drop depending on its size and attachment.

How can I choose earring length?

Compare an existing pair with measurements shown on the product page, then consider your comfort and preferred styling.

Can I exchange an item if the size is wrong?

Eligible items may qualify for return within 30 days after delivery. Direct exchanges depend on availability and applicable conditions.
